Philippine Dimple Creation Procedure
What is Dimple Creation?
A dimple is a small indentation in the flesh, particularly the cheeks, that forms because of folding of a tissue and is triggered by facial animation, like smiling. Natural dimples may appear and disappear over time. There is also speculation that they can be inherited. In some cultures, dimples are seen as a sign of good luck.
Dimple Creation follows how a natural dimple works, by making a connection between the skin and cheek muscle, so that when a muscle contracts, it pulls the skin inwards to form a dimple.
How is Dimple Creation Peformed?
Dimple Creation follows an outpatient basis. It’s done under local anesthesia and takes around half an hour to complete.
Incisions are made internally on the cheek, which do not leave scars on the outside. A punch biopsy device is position along the inner cheek (buccal mucosa) lining the location of the dimple. Circular motions are made that penetrates through the inner cheek, sub-mucosal, and cheek muscles. The circular tissue that has formed is removed with the skin intact. The skin is oriented strategically to make a dimple, then the cylindrical space is closed using absorbable sutures. These sutures touch the cheek muscle connecting the surface layer. Then a surgical knot is tied makes the skin dimple without the need for smiling.
Risks of Dimple Creation
Notable complications are rare in Dimple Creation. Usually it involves adverse reactions to the anesthetic, infection, and mild to medium localized swelling, bruising, and pain within the cheek tissue.
Who Can be Considered for Dimple Creation?
Any individual who wishes to have a dimple. However, they should notify the doctor of any allergies, serious medical conditions, or any medications they may be taking. They should also be capable of drawing realistic expectations from this procedure and aware of its limitations.
