Philippine Buttock Augmentation Procedure
Philippine Buttock Augmentation Procedure
What is Buttock Augmentation?
Buttocks or the gluteal muscles can droop and sag with age and/or weight reduction. Buttock Augmentation procedure allows the gluteal area to regain its rounder, firmer shape made possible by injecting a soft tissue filler gel or implanting silicone shell material. Implants are placed under the muscle and is secured in place using a thin capsule membrane that is fabricated around it.
How is Buttock Augmentation Performed?
Buttock Augmentation can be performed by either transferring fat or using implants.
Fat Grafting
Liposuction is done initially to collect fat cells for grafting. Large amounts lead to removing fat around the waist, which improves the proportion between the hip and waist, also making the buttocks appear larger as a result.
Fat can be processed before grafting using a centrifuge (to separate it from other fluids collected with liposuction) or by the “strainer” technique. Liquid that has no fat cells doesn’t give long-lasting results and volume increase. Separation by centrifuge is the better technique as it can give the highest number of fat cells.
Fat cells are injected using a special technique involves precise placement that guarantees more grafted cells count. When fat cells are surrounded by healthy and well-vascularized tissues, the success rate of the procedure increases. Using only small amounts of fat into many tissue layers assure soft buttocks having an even consistency. Larger Buttock Augmentations require 4 to 5 smaller openings to be made on each cheek for injections so that tissue trauma will decrease thereby improving healing. The openings are then sealed with a dissolvable suture.
Even without fat grafting, buttock definition can be enhanced by simply having liposuction on the lower back area. This is possible because there would be a relative increase in distance between the lowest point of the gluteal cleft and the most pronounced point of the buttocks.
Implantation
Buttock implantation normally involves making a 3-inch incision at the midline of the buttocks. The surgeon creates a pocket where implants will be placed, where they are placed between muscle and fat. The muscle creates a scar tissue that aids to hold the implant in place. After the implant procedure, the surgeon must confirm that both cheeks are symmmetrical and natural-looking before stitching them up.
Just like breast implants, buttock implants come in varying shapes and sizes that can even be customized. The implants make the upper and outer buttock sections rounder, excluding the lower areas.
This procedure is done under general anesthesia, often on an outpatient basis, and takes two to three hours to complete.
Risks of Buttock Augmentation
Possible complications include unfavorable scarring, hematoma, skin or fat necrosis, poor wound healing, blood clots, anesthesia-related risks, deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary risks, persistent edema, persistent pain, temporary or permanent change/loss of skin sensation, asymmetry, and recurrent drooping or sagging of the skin.
Who Can be Considered for Buttock Augmentation?
Individuals who don’t have extreme sagging buttocks and a history of medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, and high blood pressure. They should also be capable of drawing realistic expectations from the procedure and aware of its limitations.
