How safe is sclerotherapy?

Does sclerotherapy have a low accident rate? Like veins getting punctured all the way through to the other side and releasing the fluid where it shouldn’t be released? I have couple of large veins that need treatment and I need to know whether doctors can inject these in veins accurately most of the time.
