Does the abdominal area ever look normal after a tummy tuck?

I’ve read a couple of posts around the web about a tummy tuck disadvantages, and one mom expressed how her navel area looks different (mainly her belly button) and the numb sensation is still there after a couple of months from surgery.  There was a big red scar, too.  So, I’m wondering: do these things go away eventually or are they permanent? I’m looking into a tummy tuck myself, but now I’m not so sure if that’s a good idea.
